Elmer's Restaurant (Tacoma, WA)

We stopped here while driving through Tacoma on a rainy morning to look at properties, and we’re so glad we did. We originally noticed an IHOP and a Denny’s nearby, but Elmer’s caught our eye—and it turned out to be a great decision. The menu was excellent. I ordered a German pancake with lingonberries (they explained it’s similar to a cranberry and raspberry combined), and it was absolutely delicious. I also had the potato pancakes, which were wonderful. Ray ordered the avocado Benedict and said his eggs Benedict was great. The coffee was good and comforting. The atmosphere really stood out—fireplaces inside made it warm and cozy, which was perfect coming in from the rain. Elmer’s was alright. They use real prime rib for their dip sandwich, which I genuinely appreciate. In theory, that should elevate the whole experience. Unfortunately, the flavor just didn’t quite land. It wasn’t bad; it just felt muted, especially considering the quality they aimed for. My husband felt similarly about his breakfast platter. It was well-prepared and perfectly fine, but nothing stood out enough to make us crave a return trip. There’s effort there, and I always respect that. First time guest and was extremely thrilled by the service and customer care. Brennan was our server and you can tell that he really enjoys his work. The food was fresh,tasty and as per the photos. Will definitely visit it again with my husband since both of us cleared our plates and ordered some to go. Will be returning sooner than later .

This restaurant offers delicious food and excellent customer service. The standout dish is the strawberry fresh toast, which is among the best I have ever tasted. It is one of the few establishments that consistently delivers a great customer service experience, and their breakfast servings are notably generous in size.

Very nice atmosphere, come sit by the fire. Easy to get to and good parking. Food came out fast and was very tasty. The Reuben sandwich was outstanding
