Ice Cream Social

My kids and I can never visit Tacoma without stopping by Ice Cream Social (any of their locations!). My kids love trying all the new flavors, but my favorite is their hot fudge sundae with roasted banana ice cream. It hits everytime! The hot fudge is the best I've ever had, and it's vegan!!! Best ice cream in the PNW!

Just had a weird experience at this ice cream location. First time trying ice cream here and I was curious to try 3 flavors and the girl serving us said we can only sample 2. For the price we paid for 2 creams with 2 flavors was over 16.00. When I go to salt and straw we can sample as many flavors. Here’s a pic of the girl that told me no more than 2.

I would say definitely not worth for an hour waiting…. Too sweet. The flavors just very general ice cream flavors you can get from grocery shop. I ask for 2 kids scoops in one cone and they put in 2 different ones and actually charge me more😰 I would suggest the staff take more time working instead of standing there and talk to make the line move little bit faster(but I guess that’s the strategy to make it seem popular since I was also attracted by the line :)

Really enjoyed the special flavors on our trip. Chocolate and cookies n cream were a hit. Tried the cherry lime sorbet as well and it was a bit sour to our liking. Also gave the root beer float a try and it was such a huge amount to try and finish. Can’t wait to come back an try more fun flavors. Staff was also super sweet and the place was very clean. Plus who doesn’t love the fresh smell of waffle cones.

The posted hours need to be updated. We arrived at 8:50 PM, but the location was already completely closed, even though the listed hours say they close at 9 PM. We called the proctor location that was still open, and the person on the phone told us we had to be in the lobby before 9 PM for them to assist us—this was after I explained what had just happened. I told her we’d be there right at 9 sharp, but she still refused. Very disappointing. This is actually the second time I’ve found the MLK location closed despite the online hours saying it’s open.
