Merry Go Round

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Do not pass through Lone Pine without stopping at Merry Go Round. This is hands-down some of the best Chinese food—not just in the area, but anywhere. What started as a chance discovery has now become a destination for us and a cravable stop every time we pass through, either for dine-in or take-out. The restaurant is owned and run by a wonderful husband-and-wife team: she works her magic in the kitchen, and he takes care of the front of the house, making every guest feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. The food is incredible—fresh, plentiful, wholesome, and absolutely delicious (and yes, it makes fantastic leftovers). What truly makes this place unforgettable is the kindness. Got a reservation and were seated quickly, but the food took over an hour to arrive after ordering. The wait staff are super friendly, but there are just too many tables/customers to keep up. The wonton soup and shrimp fried rice were very good but the shrimp lo mein was somewhat plain. Very large portion sizes, plenty of leftovers. When we received our check, the total was 3x what it should have been. The wait staff corrected it when I pointed out the error, but if I hadn't caught it I would have severely overpaid.

We called in at around 6pm and were seated quickly. Offered iced water straight away whilst looking at the menu. Won tons arrived quickly but were sadly overcooked and lacked filling. I've also never been given mustard & ketchup as dipping options. Then the wait began. The restaurant filled up and people were added to table wait lists. The waitresses tried their best to remain cheerful and upbeat despire the mounting number of people waiting for food. We were then offered a free bowl of soup whilst we waited. Eventually the food came out but our dishes came out separately a good 10min apart. The food when it came was tasty and large portions. Yes a little overpriced but not too bad for a touristy spot. Sadly the atmosphere was overshadowed by the gentleman dining alibe on the table b

Overall the food is really tasty but this place is so overpriced. It’s probably just the town in general, but just thought the price doesn’t make it totally worth it. You have tons of leftovers too. The orange peel was super tasty though. Would definitely recommend that!

Came here for dinner as my husband and I made a stop for our road trip at Yosemite National Park. It’s good to have some Chinese food after days of American food. We ordered the Home Pan Fried Noodles and cashews prawns. Both came very quickly and the portions were very generous. We both liked the cashews prawns, delicious. The noodles were served on a hot plate but only some of the noodles were crunchy. It’s a bit oily but the taste it’s good. Very friendly and attentive staff. Remember to make a reservation as it’s a popular restaurant here especially if you’re of a big group. Recommend.
