Salt of the Earth Bistro-Lake Placid, NY

Such a gem! We will definitely be back. Each dish was a treat and the hospitality was amazing. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed and taken care of. Although there isn’t a full bar the selection of beer and wine is outstanding. We did some à la carte off the tasting menu and it was amazing. Duck, salmon, and steak were amazing and perfectly cooked. Kids loved the deserts!

After an error in reserving another restaurant for NYE, we were scrambling for a spot last minute. After leaving messages and calling all over, Salt of the Earth called back! It was a perfect happenstance, ending up being our best meal in Lake Placid, and a lovely way to end the year. The location is just out of town, and easy drive. The unique decor, friendly and skilled staff, added to the amazing cuisine and drinks.

Had a wonderful experience here for Valentine’s Day. All of the food was exceptional and it was probably one of our best meals at Lake Placid the entire weekend we were there. The portion sizes were more than decent and both my partner and I left full. We also loved the ambiance of the place, there was a lot of interesting decor.

This is an intimate, wonderfully curated place to be. The food is delightful and incredibly thoughtful, without being ostentatious. My wife and I dined with our 7 & 9 year old sons, and we all enjoyed everything. The service was excellent, knowledgeable and attentive, without making us feel rushed, only incredibly cared for and welcome. We order a lot of food, because the menu was irresistible. It all tasted as good as it read. The ingredients were fresh and paired in a palette stimulating way, that show the kitchen cares about everything they present. Unfortunately, we were traveling though, otherwise I may live there. I could not recommend reserving yourself a meal here any more strongly. Unique and interesting dinner experience. Friendly and knowledgeable service, quality meals and unique home/turned restaurant atmosphere. Nice wine and cocktail selection. The port (on the dessert menu) was fantastic! I recommend the salmon. Yum! You'll need a reservation, as seating is limited.
