I had the omakase here, and it was the most delicious sushi I’ve had since coming to the U.S. The owner was also very kind and friendly, which I loved. Every piece of sushi was fresh, and the dobinmushi had plenty of matsutake mushrooms. Some of the sushi had a touch of citrus, or momiji oroshi and ginger on top, depending on the fish—it was clearly a carefully thought-out course. If you come here, I definitely recommend trying the omakase! I want to visit again when I go to Seattle☺︎
Finally got a chance to visit one of the restaurants that had been on my list for a while, Sushi Kappo Tamura! It is located in Eastlake side of Seattle right under I-5. Unfortunately, there’s no water view from any of the tables. I also noticed that one of my long-time favorite spots, Eastlake Grill, has been torn down, which made me a bit sad. When I visited, there was road construction around the restaurant, which made parking more of a hassle. Parking itself is a bit tricky. The restaurant owns a few spots in the lot next door, but it’s not obvious how to get there. The easiest way to find it is by Googling this address: 3105 Harvard Avenue East, Seattle. That will take you straight to the parking lot. I am sharing this because I had to call in advance to ask about parking informatio
Considering that sushi in Seattle tends to graviate toward a higher price-point, the price and quality ratio here was quite reasonble. We ordered a course and all the dishes, i.e. oysters, Bara Chiraashi, Sashimi were very fresh. The staff here were quite attentive and provided great recommendations for the sake and food pairing - it was quite helpful that the sake noted dry and sweet levels on the menu. I am looking forward to visiting this restaurant again in the future - though this is not a place to visit super frequently as it leans toward the higher end sushi. Overall, this place is great for special occasions and in seasons to splurge.
This is my favorite sushi place in Seattle! The food is amazing and the people there feel like family. The fish to rice ratio on their sushi is perfect. The quality of the fish they use is top notch. The fish melts in your mouth. We began our meal with chawan mushi which is a warm comforting starter that reminds me of my mom’s when I was little. And then we ended the meal with the millet mochi, which was the perfect end to the best meal!!!
While visiting Seattle, I couldn't end my week without going to a sushi restaurant and Kappo Tamura is the perfect place for that. Both the service and the quality of the sushi delighted us!
