We had a wonderful stay at The Clarke House! This is a beautifully appointed historical home with comfortable accommodations and is conveniently located to some amazing local restaurants. (The Social, The Porch on the Green, the CowHaus, and Jackie’s Brickhouse were incredible.) The property inside and out is absolutely gorgeous and so well maintained. We stayed in the Scarlett Room, where the bed was so comfy and the shower was hot. Brooke, the hostess, was wonderful - We’ll definitely be back to enjoy another quiet and relaxing getaway in this historically-steeped town of Monticello!
We booked our guest at the Avera-Clarke House for the weekend of my sons wedding, and were lucky enough to also have the rehearsal dinner and wedding day brunch there as well. The weather was beautiful so we had all the festivities outside in their beautiful courtyard and under their pavilion. Brooke and Nick took care of everything, setting up the chairs and tables with the beautiful white pressed table cloths and turning the outside area into a fairytale setting with twinkly lights everywhere! They were on hand for any needs we had throughout the whole weekend, making sure we had everything we needed without hesitation. When things were forgotten, like music and setting a fire for the chill in the air, they took care of it all! They turned a stressful occasion into one of happy memories
A Night at the (Surprisingly Cozy) Haunted Id: B16555566 We arrived around 11:30 p.m. on October 30th — the witching hour, practically. The whole bed and breakfast was locked tight, lights out, and not a soul in sight. The place dates back to the 1800s, and between the dimly lit porch, skeletons, ghosts, and the horse-drawn skeleton carriage on the lawn, it felt like we’d stepped right into a gothic novel. Just when we were ready to be cast in The Haunting of Room 3, we got inside and found it… actually lovely. Yes, the house is being remodeled, but it’s clean, cared for, and has real charm beneath its spooky first impression. The shower was steaming hot (no ghostly chills), and the bed? Like sleeping on a cloud — if clouds had high-thread-count sheets. By morning, the grounds looked m
Just 20 minutes to get to Tally, and 20 more to get to Doak. An historic town with friendly people. The Scarlet room was perfect for my wife and me. It so happened we were the only guests that weekend, so we had the entire house to ourselves. Brooke was a great host.
From the minute we pulled up the Historic Home was beautiful and well maintained. I met with the host who provided a tour with a brief history of the home. We were escorted to the room, and it was perfect and clean. I opted out of the breakfast, but I heard it was amazing. Definitely will stay there again.
