Host SARA was wonderful & respectfulwith of local tips weekend events and excellent restaurant/Café recommendations. Lovely welcome basket. Thoughtful amenities of soap-selection, plentiful towels, linens, blankets. Exquisite personal detail with very clean rooms, with quaint antiquities and beautiful decor. We loved television with comfortable leather sofa to relax in evening & deck of Playing cards. Fully equipped kitchen. We dined out for all meals. Location perfect downtown McGregor after spending day at local parks. Highly recommend.

What a lovely place to stay! There is plenty of room to stretch out in this beautifully restored historic building. Our group of 10 family and friends all loved it! The rooms were all very clean and fresh. We rented both floors and enjoyed the full kitchen and various seating areas. This is in the perfect location in McGregor, with great views of the Mississippi, and a short walk to the downtown antique shops, pubs, and restaurants. The rates were very reasonable. The owner was friendly and helpful. It was an overall wonderful experience; we felt like we had our own house in McGregor! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at AmericanHouse 1854! It was a beautifully decorated suite & offered more than we expected! The town of McGregor was a chosen for a couple’s weekend getaway to enjoy the Fall colors. Even though we were a bit early for that this year, we have a wonderful time exploring the area’s state parks, shopping & restaurants. Thanks so much for being amazing hosts!

Four of us, two couples, shared the Pocket City Penthouse for a weekend getaway to McGregor. This home was clean, charming, and comfy. The decor was all very sweet and fitting to the era of the home. The porch was perfect for morning coffee, breakfast and cocktails at night. We enjoyed some of the books and history it shared of McGregor and our home away from home. View of Mississippi AMAZING! First off Sara was an amazing host. She kept us informed of local events that were happening and made recommendations of things to do and see. We weren’t sure what to expect going to McGregor, but the town was welcoming, charming and absolutely beautiful. The American house is full of historic charm. And the view from the third floor is breathtaking and one in a million. I would definitely recommend the American house.
