Creekside Inn B & B

No. Just no. It was old and rundown. Wall was partially unpainted. Furniture was old, but not in a vintage sort of way. The place was dusty and not clean. Fixtures old. Paint peeling on the shower. An unsafe area of the bathroom floor was just covered with an old frayed piece of carpet thrown down. At the entrance there’s a piece of plywood thrown down over a dirt area. No blinds over the windows so the outside lights shine like a beacon in the bedroom when trying to sleep. Pool is devoid of water. On a positive note, Jim was nice and engaging, the place was roomy and the price is reasonable. We didn’t stay for breakfast so I can’t speak to that. Several spiders in our room.

Great host, wonderful breakfast! If I could, I'd give it a 3.5 stars. The host recommended some good things to check out in town. The beds need updating. The sink, toilet, bath areas were clean, but the rest could use some more attention.

The Creekside inn is now the only B&B in Challis in operation. It’s an old building with a newer guest cottage, full to the brim with an amazing array of art and furniture, including a bear rug, several antique key instruments, To me, this creation, mostly by the engaging owner, is enhanced by his knowledge of local history and culture. Even the clutter had stories of their own. The Sunday omelets were very tasty, and the price for a night’s stay was very reasonable indeed. The silence, near to Main Street, was welcome.

Very disappointed in our stay. I made reservations well in advance for a 2-bedroom unit for a two couple stay. I verified that morning that we would be a late arrival. Got there around 7 pm and our room was given to someone else. The owner put us in a unit that had a small, cramped, one bedroom with a fold out couch-bed in the livng room area. It was extremely old and outdated, the mattress was pancake-thin, with no curtains or blinds on the main window outlooking the street. We had to duct tape a tarp over this window to try to get some privacy. The bathroom was tiny and like something you'd expect at a campground. It was late and did not know if anything else was around, so we stayed here anyway. None of us slept that night. ||On a positive note, the owner does seem to be a nic

We stayed here during the Braun Brothers Reunion festival. We were upstairs in the “bird house”. Accommodations were great, Jim was a fantastic host and a great chef! Although we didn’t get in the pool, it looked pretty inviting on a hot Summer day!||We will be back next year!!
