Don Buyos Mexican Restaurant and Cantina

On vacation and was just going to have a margarita and some chips and salsa but the menu looked great so we had a little more. Tried à la carte enchilada, Chile Relleno, chicken tacos, and the super tostado. We also got the (I think it was) avocado salad (?). All was very good, but that avocado dish was awesome!! Super chunky, pico mixed in… delicious! Drink was very good. Service was spot on!! We just happened to pass by and stop but already recommended it to friends who travel here!!

I stopped in at Don Buyos Mexican Restaurant and Cantina while passing through Asheville, and I ended up having a full-on feast. I ordered the Fajitas Chipotle, which came loaded with beef and chicken strips, fresh bell peppers, chipotle peppers, onions, tomatoes, zucchini, squash, and a great seasoning blend. The portion was huge. This is the kind of plate that guarantees you’re leaving with a to-go box. The meat was flavorful, the veggies were cooked right, and the chipotle seasoning tied it all together. I especially liked the addition of zucchini and squash, something I don’t see often with fajitas but it works. Now, the tortillas. Very good restaurant!!! The food was great and the portions were nice and large. I had the Special Dinner which had an Enchilada, Burrito, Chalupa, Taco, Chile Relleno, rice and beans. The restaurant was very clean and large, they can accommodate large parties for sure. Recommended!!!’

Hands down , the best Mexican restaurant in WNC !!! I’m confident about that. Here are the reasons that I say that. The most attentive service that I have ever had at any restaurant. The atmosphere is clean and fresh The food is very fresh, and the guacamole is 5 stars. The portions are more that you would expect. And the prices are far less than you would expect for the quality and quantity of food that you receive. Yall, the bathrooms are immaculate. This is not your standard “ Mexican Restaurant “. I rarely leave reviews of restaurants. But, this place earned every star that I can give.

We decided to give this a try tonight and we are so glad we did. I have found my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Asheville. Food was fresh and delicious. Portions and prices were great. Super friendly staff. Atmosphere was much better than Fatz which used to be here. There’s a salsa bar that I didn’t see until after. I will definitely check it out next time because we will definitely be back.
