Avoca

We stayed at Avoca for one night with friends visiting from the UK. Yvonne greeted us warmly and we were made to feel very welcome. Yvonne had just had the carpets cleaned so it was not a problem to take our shoes off as it seems to have with some people who have stayed there. Who wants dirty shoes on clean carpets? The beds were very comfy and everything was spotless. Yvonne was very helpful with directions and recommendations for somewhere to eat. Breakfast was very good, with homemade jam, homemade banana bread, and included homegrown tomatoes in the cooked breakfast. Her sense of humour was great and conversation was easy. The house is up for sale, but should Yvonne still be there when we next visit, we would definitely book with her. Thank you Yvonne

I met Yvonne years ago when i picked up and headed to Niagara-On-The-Lake spontaneously, i needed to get away. It was a great experience. I ended up staying longer and Yvonne welcomed me with open arms and an open heart. It was quaint, cozy and like home. Truthfully, i wasn't sure what to expect and at first didn't seem to be what i wanted or was looking for in a B & B. But it turned out to be perfect for me and what i needed. I ended up coming back the next year and even a few years later with my mother. Thank you Yvonne for opening your home to me and to visitors in general. I wish you well.

I spent 2 nights at this charming Bed and Breakfast with very comfortable well appointed rooms. Yvonne went out of her way to make me feel at home and was extremely helpful in every way. The breakfast was delicious and I have no hesitation in recommending Avoca Bed and Breakfast to anyone visiting beautiful Niagara on the Lake!

We stayed here through a rental site. The 4 bedrooms appreared clean enough but after a closer look we saw how "unclean" this house was. The showers all had used bars of soap and were not clean. The kitchen was lacking cooking needs, dishtowels, dishcloths, baking sheets etc. There were mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers even were the utensils were. We heard mice in the walls at night and found a dead mouse in the laundry room. Someone also had left the gas on outside which could have been extremely dangerous. Luckily we smelled it and turned it off. The owner Sunni never came to greet us even after we told her what time we would arrive. The lovely proprietor shared her home with us and made us feel at home. We were not trapped in our bedroom, but we were brought into community with our fellow travelers. Our time spent here at Niagara on the Lake was certainly enriched by her charm, her stories, and our conversations with other guests. At first we were disappointed that we needed the car to reach the theaters, but we realized that the short ride insured that we had a tranquil resting place in the afternoon when we tired of the crowded commercial area. How sad that she will not be maintaining this establishment next year.
