Matisse Bed & Breakfast

Stayed at John's B&B for 3 nights in August 2025 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and well appointed; bed was comfortable and the coffee/fridge area was nice to get the morning cup in and store some goodies from the day. The shower was a bit small but functioned well overall. John provided lots of great information about the local area and was responsive to texts when needed. We recommend and would stay again ourselves. Thanks John.

Under new ownership: Return visitors be aware! We have stayed at Matisse a number of times over the years and loved being hosted by former owner Janet, her husband, and their adorable dog: Matisse, for whom the B&B was named. We discovered this time that they have sold Matisse and it is under new ownership. Johnny, the new owner, is friendly and accommodating. He is also a landlord of multiple properties, so this is not his main focus, as it was for the previous owners. So, if you have never stayed here, you will no doubt find it pleasant and comfortable! That being said: return visitors will miss Janet’s delicious breakfasts; Matisse no longer includes breakfast: guests must go out for breakfast to one of two specific locations and submit their receipt to Johnny, who will comp up to $3

We stayed one night in the Forget Me Not room. The room was small but the bed was comfortable and the linens were nice. The only drawback is that the washroom is not within the room, so you must go out across the hall to get to it. Not really ideal when there are other people staying in the house. Thankfully, they provide robes.||The new manager was very friendly and texted us on the day of arrival with instructions for entering. There is a common area with a fridge available for use.||While it is noted as a B&B, they don't serve breakfast on-site. You are given a voucher to use at a local restaurant. Sort of takes away the charm of a traditional B&B.||It takes 20 mins to walk to the main part of Niagara on the Lake.

We visited on a very hot day. The host was very helpful and showing us around the house. We happened to be the only guests that were actually in the main facility. The air conditioning made it very comfortable inside. Very quiet and secluded.All the amenities were there a comfortable bed with pillows; nice views out the window of our room. Amenities included a parlor, books to read, Keurig coffee, a small refrigerator, assortment of teas, microwave oven. Grounds are well kept and offer a table for dining outdoors.Note: rooms are up a flight of stairs.
